CUET UG – Common University Entrance Test for Undergraduate Programs

The Common University Entrance Test (CUET UG) is a national-level entrance exam conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for admission to undergraduate programs in Central Universities and other participating universities across India. The exam is designed to provide a common platform for admissions to various courses like B.A., B.Sc., B.Com, BBA, and more. The CUET UG aims to ensure a fair and transparent admission process based on merit.

Eligibility Criteria

  1. Age Limit:
    • There is no specific age limit for CUET UG. Candidates must meet the age requirements of the university or college to which they are applying.
  2. Educational Qualification:
    • Candidates must have passed Class 12 or an equivalent examination from a recognized board with the relevant stream (Science, Arts, Commerce, etc.).
    • Candidates who are appearing for Class 12 exams in the year of application are also eligible to apply.

Application Process

  1. Registration: Visit the official NTA CUET website (https://cuet.samarth.ac.in) to register for the exam.
  2. Form Submission: Fill out the online application form with personal, educational, and contact details.
  3. Upload Documents: Upload scanned copies of the photograph, signature, and other required documents as per the specifications.
  4. Fee Payment: Pay the application fee online through debit/credit cards, UPI, or net banking.
  5. Admit Card: After successful registration, candidates can download the admit card from the official website.

Exam Pattern

  • Mode: The exam is conducted in computer-based mode.
  • Sections:
    • Section IA (Languages): 13 languages to choose from, including Hindi, English, Sanskrit, etc.
    • Section IB (Languages): Additional 19 languages for the choice of candidates.
    • Section II (Domain-Specific Subjects): A maximum of 6 domain subjects to choose from, including subjects like Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology, History, Geography, etc.
    • Section III (General Test): For candidates applying to programs like BBA, BCA, etc., this section includes general knowledge, reasoning, and quantitative aptitude.
  • Total Marks: 400 (varies by the number of subjects selected).
  • Duration: 3 hours (depending on the number of sections chosen).
  • Marking Scheme:
    • +5 marks for each correct answer.
    • -1 for each wrong answer (negative marking).

Syllabus

  1. Section IA/IB (Language): Grammar, vocabulary, reading comprehension, and writing skills.
  2. Section II (Domain Subjects):
    • Subjects like Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology, History, Geography, Political Science, Economics, and more, based on the syllabus of Class 12.
  3. Section III (General Test):
    • Logical reasoning, general awareness, current affairs, quantitative aptitude, and English comprehension.

Admission Process

  1. Exam: Candidates must appear for the CUET UG exam.
  2. Result: After the exam, the NTA will release the results based on candidates' performance.
  3. Counseling: Based on the exam score, universities and colleges conduct counseling sessions for final seat allotment.
  4. Final Admission: Candidates who are selected in the counseling process must submit required documents and pay the admission fee for final enrollment.
