SLAT – Symbiosis Law Admission Test
SLAT is a university-level entrance exam conducted by Symbiosis International (Deemed University) for admission to the undergraduate (BA LLB, BBA LLB) and postgraduate (LLM) law programs offered by Symbiosis Law Schools across India. It is an important exam for students wishing to join one of the prestigious Symbiosis Law Schools.
Eligibility Criteria

Undergraduate Program (BA LLB, BBA LLB):
- Must have passed or be appearing for Class 12 or equivalent from any recognized board with at least 45% marks (40% for SC/ST candidates).
- There is no upper age limit for appearing in the SLAT exam.

Postgraduate Program (LLM):
- Must have a 3-year LLB degree or a 5-year integrated LLB degree from a recognized university.
- Minimum aggregate of 50% marks (45% for SC/ST candidates) in the qualifying exam.
Application Process
- Registration: Visit the official SLAT website (https://www.symlaw.ac.in) to create an account and complete the registration process.
- Form Submission: Fill in the application form with personal and academic details.
- Upload Documents: Upload scanned copies of photographs, signatures, and other documents as required.
- Fee Payment: Pay the application fee online using debit/credit cards, net banking, or UPI.
- Admit Card: Download the admit card after the application process is complete.
Exam Pattern
- Mode: Computer-Based Test (CBT).
- Sections:
- General Knowledge and Current Affairs (30 questions).
- Legal Reasoning (30 questions).
- Logical Reasoning (30 questions).
- Analytical Reasoning (30 questions).
- Reading Comprehension (30 questions).
- Total Questions: 150.
- Marking Scheme: +1 for correct answers, -0.25 for incorrect answers.
- Duration: 2 hours.
Syllabus
- The SLAT syllabus is designed to evaluate candidates' knowledge in the following areas:
- General Knowledge and Current Affairs: National and international events, sports, awards, and other contemporary issues.
- Legal Reasoning: Legal principles, logical application of law.
- Logical Reasoning: Analytical skills, puzzles, deductions, and critical thinking.
- Analytical Reasoning: Problem-solving using logical and quantitative methods.
- Reading Comprehension: Understanding, interpreting, and analyzing written texts.
Admission Process
- Appear for the SLAT exam and achieve a valid score.
- After the exam, candidates are shortlisted for GE-PIWAT (Group Exercise, Personal Interview, and Writing Ability Test) based on their SLAT score.
- The final selection is based on the combined score of SLAT and GE-PIWAT.
- Complete the admission formalities after selection.
