GUJCET – Gujarat Common Entrance Test

The Gujarat Common Entrance Test (GUJCET) is a state-level entrance exam conducted by the Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) for admission to undergraduate engineering, pharmacy, and other courses in the state of Gujarat. The test is a crucial step for students seeking admission to various government and private engineering colleges, pharmacy colleges, and private universities in Gujarat.

Eligibility Criteria

  1. Age Limit:
    • There is no specific age limit for GUJCET, but candidates must meet the general eligibility criteria set by the participating colleges and courses.
  2. Educational Qualification:
    • Candidates must have passed Class 12 (or equivalent) with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics for Engineering courses or Biology, Physics, and Chemistry for Pharmacy courses.
    • A minimum of 45% marks (40% for reserved categories) in the relevant subjects is required in Class 12.

Application Process

  1. Registration: Visit the official GUJCET website (https://gujcet.gseb.org) to register for the exam.
  2. Form Submission: Fill in the personal, academic, and contact details in the online application form.
  3. Fee Payment: Pay the application fee through online methods such as debit/credit cards, UPI, or net banking.
  4. Admit Card: After the registration process is complete, candidates can download their admit cards from the official website.

Exam Pattern

  • Mode: The exam is conducted in computer-based mode (online).
  • Sections:
    • Physics: 40 questions.
    • Chemistry: 40 questions.
    • Mathematics/Biology: 40 questions (depending on the course).
  • Total Marks: 120.
  • Duration: 3 hours.
  • Marking Scheme:
    • +1 mark for each correct answer.
    • No negative marking for incorrect answers.

Syllabus

  • The syllabus for GUJCET is based on the Class 12 curriculum, including:
    1. Physics: Mechanics, Electrostatics, Current Electricity, Magnetism, Optics, Waves.
    2. Chemistry: Organic, Inorganic, and Physical Chemistry.
    3. Mathematics: Algebra, Calculus, Vectors, Trigonometry, Coordinate Geometry.
    4. Biology (for Pharmacy): Plant Physiology, Genetics, Ecology, Human Physiology.

Admission Process

  1. Exam: Candidates must appear for GUJCET and qualify the exam.
  2. Result: After the exam, the results are announced along with the rank list.
  3. Counseling: Based on the rank, candidates are called for the counseling process, where they choose their preferred colleges and courses.
  4. Final Admission: Admission is confirmed after the seat allotment and document verification process.
