KCET – Karnataka Common Entrance Test

Eligibility Criteria
- Age Limit:
- There is no specific age limit for KCET. However, candidates must fulfill the eligibility requirements set by the respective colleges and courses.
- Educational Qualification:
- Candidates must have passed Class 12 (or equivalent) with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (for Engineering) or Biology (for Pharmacy and Agriculture) as core subjects.
- A minimum of 45% marks (40% for reserved categories) in aggregate is typically required in Class 12.
- Candidates must be citizens of India and should fulfill the domicile requirements for Karnataka.
Application Process
- Registration: Visit the official KCET website (https://cetonline.karnataka.gov.in/kea) to register for the exam.
- Form Submission: Fill in the required personal, academic, and contact details in the online application form.
- Fee Payment: Pay the application fee through online modes such as debit/credit cards, UPI, or net banking.
- Admit Card: After successfully registering, candidates can download the admit card from the official website.
Exam Pattern
- Mode: The exam is conducted in pen and paper-based mode (offline).
- Sections:
- Physics: 60 questions.
- Chemistry: 60 questions.
- Mathematics/Biology: 60 questions (depending on the course chosen).
- Total Marks: 180.
- Duration: 3 hours (1 hour for each section).
- Marking Scheme:
- +1 mark for each correct answer.
- No negative marking for incorrect answers.
Syllabus
- The KCET syllabus is based on the Class 12 curriculum, including:
- Physics: Mechanics, Thermodynamics, Optics, Electrostatics, and Magnetism.
- Chemistry: Organic, Inorganic, and Physical Chemistry.
- Mathematics: Algebra, Calculus, Coordinate Geometry, Trigonometry.
- Biology (for Pharmacy and Agriculture): Cell Biology, Genetics, Plant Physiology, Animal Physiology.
Admission Process
- Exam: Candidates must appear for the KCET exam.
- Result: After the exam, KEA releases the results, along with rank lists.
- Counseling: Based on the rank obtained, candidates are called for online counseling for seat allocation.
- Final Admission: Candidates need to submit necessary documents and pay the admission fee for final enrollment in the allotted college.
