MHT CET – Maharashtra Common Entrance Test

The MHT CET is a state-level entrance exam conducted by the State Common Entrance Test Cell, Maharashtra. It is held for admission to various undergraduate courses, primarily in Engineering, Pharmacy, and Agriculture in Maharashtra. The exam is conducted annually and is a crucial gateway for students who wish to pursue B.Tech, B.Pharm, or B.Sc Agriculture in Maharashtra.

Eligibility Criteria

  1. Age Limit:
    • There is no age limit for MHT CET. However, candidates must meet the eligibility criteria set by the respective colleges and courses.
  2. Educational Qualification:
    • Candidates must have passed Class 12 or an equivalent exam from a recognized board with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (for Engineering) or Biology (for Pharmacy and Agriculture).
    • A minimum of 50% aggregate marks (45% for reserved categories) in Class 12 is usually required.

Application Process

  1. Registration: Visit the official MHT CET website (https://cetcell.mahacet.org) and register for the exam.
  2. Form Submission: Fill out the online application form with personal, academic, and contact details.
  3. Fee Payment: The application fee can be paid through online methods like debit/credit cards, UPI, or net banking.
  4. Admit Card: Once the application process is complete, candidates can download the admit card from the official website.

Exam Pattern

  • Mode: The exam is conducted in computer-based mode.
  • Sections:
    • Physics: 50 questions.
    • Chemistry: 50 questions.
    • Mathematics/Biology: 50 questions (depending on the stream chosen).
  • Total Marks: 200.
  • Duration: 3 hours.
  • Marking Scheme:
    • +2 marks for each correct answer.
    • No negative marking for incorrect answers.

Syllabus

  • The syllabus for the MHT CET is based on the Class 12 curriculum, covering subjects like:
    1. Physics: Mechanics, Thermodynamics, Waves, Optics, and Electricity.
    2. Chemistry: Organic, Inorganic, and Physical Chemistry.
    3. Mathematics: Algebra, Trigonometry, Calculus, and Coordinate Geometry.
    4. Biology (for Pharmacy and Agriculture): Cell Biology, Genetics, Plant Physiology, and Animal Physiology.

Admission Process

  1. Exam: Candidates must appear for the MHT CET exam.
  2. Result: After the exam, the State Common Entrance Test Cell will announce the results.
  3. Counseling: Candidates who qualify in the exam are required to participate in the online counseling process for seat allotment.
  4. Final Admission: Based on the MHT CET score, candidates are allotted seats in various colleges in Maharashtra for the relevant courses.
